JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for the development, execution and evaluation of Strategic Marketing plans for the Food & Grocery/Personal Care portfolio ensuring the achievement of brand and Company objectives. To act as a liaison with Suppliers and the Sales Team and to lead a team of Jr. Brand Managers in order to achieve the set goals.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

The job is satisfactorily performed when:

  • Brand plan objectives and quotas are achieved
  • Marketing and promotion objectives are achieved and executed on time and on budget.
  • Marketing forecasts are timely, accurate, and reliable, and forecasts are achieved.
  • Frequency and nature of preventable incidents, accidents or breaches are in keeping with targets for days away from work cases
  • Collaboration with various department to develop and optimize processes and procedures
  • Timeliness, accuracy and reliability of analyses and reports are met.
  • A satisfactory working relationship is encouraged and developed with all employees as espoused and guided by Group and Company Values.
  • Relationships with suppliers and key customers are fostered to ensure long-term security for the business
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

FUNCTIONAL:

  1. Work closely with, and obtain approval from Principals and the Division Head, to develop and execute detailed brand plans based on knowledge of establishment objectives, market characteristics, and cost factors to achieve defined brand sales objectives.
  2. Deploy successful marketing campaigns and own the implementation from ideation to execution.
  3. Play a leading role in the planning process of all new product introductions to achieve successful launches.
  4. Prepare and monitor A&P budget in line with company objectives
  5. Track & analyze the performance of advertising campaigns vs objective
  6. Monitor existing brand portfolio, competitive activity, promotional trends, distribution levels and shelf presence through regular trade visits, to ensure the team is offering efficient and effective service.
  7. Analyze market and category trends and utilize findings to implement strategic initiatives.
  8. Work closely with Marketing & Sales team in developing promotional programs, assisting with proposals and sign-off on all promotions conducted.
  9. Initiate and co-ordinate market research and analyze findings.
  10. Manage implementation of the Company’s promotional activities so as to ensure the achievement of established marketing goals and objectives.
  11. All promotions with investments of USD$1,000 or more must be attended.
  12. Monitor inventory levels periodically with the Division Head to encourage strategies, plans and promotions to facilitate the achievement of the Company’s marketing objectives.
  13. Develop pricing strategies to establish market positioning
  14. Conduct quarterly pricing analysis via pricing survey, to ensure price proposition is in line with market standards, brand profitability and company objectives.
  15. Monitor customer and competitor activities to determine and implement appropriate trade marketing plans

 

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

  1. Work with suppliers and advertising agencies to implement and maintain cost-efficient advertising plans and media development.
  2. Manage the relationship with all suppliers ensuring their satisfaction with the Company’s performance at all times.
  3. Work with the Marketing, Sales teams and key customers to formulate appropriate channel activities which includes, promotions, displays, category placement to continuously improve standards staying relevant to shoppers and consumers.
  4. Direct the hiring, training, or performance evaluations of marketing team and oversee their daily activities.
  5. Coordinate or participate in promotional activities or trade shows, working with developers, advertisers, to market products or services.
  6. Challenge and motivate staff to consistently achieve extraordinary results.
  7. Communicate with the Division Director on a regular basis on all aspects of the achievement of marketing goals and objectives

 

HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT:

  1. Investigate and report on incidents and/or accidents as necessary.
  2. Review accident reports and ensure corrective actions are done.
  3. Ensure the application of and adherence to established HSE measures and procedures to ensure the well-being of all employees and the Company’s customers.

QUALITY ASSURANCE & CUSTOMER SERVICE:

  1. Adhere to the Company’s quality & customer service standards and procedures.
  2. Ensure the Company’s quality & customer service standards and procedures are being adhered to & reinforce compliance with direct reports.

 

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Develop and / or co-ordinate all marketing activities.
  2. Review and analyze the execution of promotions, report on findings and recommend appropriate adjustments and initiatives.
  3. Review brand portfolio on a semi-annual basis to ensure existence of profitable SKU’s.
  4. Manage advertising and promotion budgets, ensuring that claims for expenses are sent to Principals regularly, with supporting documentation as per supplier agreements.
  5. Ensure reimbursements are received from suppliers, within 60days of submission.
  6. Evaluate requests for sponsorship and assist team with implementing sponsorship activity if necessary.
  7. Prepare a market summary presentation to Principals on their arrival to the market.
  8. Participate in the preparation of sales budgets, forecasts and annual business plans, prepare draft budget proposals and administer approved budgets.
  9. Maintain Food & Grocery Division product catalogue.
  10. Ensure proper social media platforms are used for marketing activities
  11. Perform other duties that may be required to enhance the operations of the Company

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years marketing+ experience in a FMCG environment with at least two (2) years at a managerial level
  • Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills.
  • Prove experience developing marketing plans and campaigns.
