JOB PURPOSE
To enhance the value of BPI brands by ensuring all goods are properly displayed and merchandised. This entails ensuring all brand standards are maintained, stocks are rotated, retail outlets are regularly visited to ensure products are properly placed and visible and POP material is effectively used.
PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
The job is satisfactorily performed when:
- Superior customer service is delivered
- Rotations are made and expiries are removed
- Shelves are neat and merchandised in accordance to the planogram
- Reliability – attendance and punctuality
- There is proficient knowledge of products
- A satisfactory working relationship is encouraged and developed with all employees as espoused and guided by Group and Company Values
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
FUNCTIONAL:
- Visit assigned outlets to pack and replenish BPI products according to planogram and route listing.
- Maintain the Company’s products and brands in the best location so as to ensure visibility, consumer traffic flow, and convenience
- Rotate stock regularly in warehouses and shelves so as to ensure products expiration issues are minimized or eliminated
- Use and secure POP material effectively and efficiently visible to the public.
- Good housekeeping so as to ensure the selling spaces for products are clean and tidy; this includes re-papering shelves with corresponding brand shelf paper
- Report stock outs to Supervisor and Sales Representative and follow up on orders
- Ensure correct retail pricing on the shelves
- Assist the Sales Representative as necessary in terms of placing supplementary orders, ensuring expiring goods are noted and liquidated
- Support the promotion of the Company’s brands through continuous updating of product knowledge
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:
- Follow directives given by Supervisor/Brand Manager/ Sales Manager.
- Maintain strong relationships with sales representatives and supermarket staff as applicable
HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT:
- Report any hazards which are identified to direct Manager.
- Ensure the application of and adherence to established HSE measures and procedures to ensure the well-being of all employees and the Company’s customers.
QUALITY ASSURANCE & CUSTOMER SERVICE:
- Adhere to the Company’s quality & customer service standards and procedures.
- Ensure the Company’s quality & customer service standards and procedures are being adhered to & reinforce compliance with direct reports.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Complete daily Merchandisers’ Report Sheets and submit to Supervisor in a timely fashion
- Participate in display competitions and incentive programs conducted throughout the year
- Log time in and out in Merchandising log books in store.
- Perform other duties that may be required to enhance the operations of the Company

- Merchandising tools – tape, scissors, POPs, duster, cloth, gloves, planogram book, (ladders, cutters and pricing gun – as required)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of three (3) CXC passes, which must include English and Mathematics
- Prior experience in a similar environment would be an asset
- Or relevant combination of training and experience
