Position Purpose: Required to facilitate Distribution Centre activities, through safe and efficient
handling of stock, and forklift operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance – completion of daily checks of forklift functions prior to use, to ensure safe operation and consistent performance.
- Replenishing – timely replenishment of stock from bulk storage bins, to picking bins.
- Picking – picking of goods to fulfil customer orders. Effective picking must be accurate, timely and ensure that all goods are of a saleable quality.
- Wrapping – proper wrapping and racking of picked goods, once they have been verified.
- Loading – safely move goods from staging, and or storage areas, into vehicles.
- Off Loading – offloading of inbound shipments safely and efficient relocation of goods to appropriate storage locations.
- Grouping of Goods and Internal Movements – accurate product relocation within the Distribution Centre, as necessary, to create space and improve productivity.
- Stock Counts – participation in stock counting exercises as required, ensuring accuracy of inventory.
- Safety:
- Completing daily checks of vital equipment functions to ensure safe operation and consistent performance.
- Taking all necessary precautions to ensure safety when performing job functions, including wearing appropriate PPE at all times.
- Identifying any unsafe conditions and alerting Supervisors or Management.
- Co-operation with Supervisors and Management on all matters related to safety.
- Housekeeping:
- Accurate and timely isolation of damaged goods.
- Ensuring that designated work area is kept clean at all times.
- Removal of unwanted waste material including, but not limited to, shrink wrap and other packaging materials.
- Any other relevant activities considered necessary by Management for the efficient functioning of the Distribution Centre.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of three (3) CXC/Ordinary Level passes including Math and English
- Three (3) years experience working in a warehouse environment.
Skills:
- Ability to work independently, as well as function effectively as part of a team.
- Must possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to efficiently manage time.
